I really don’t understand it, though it is hilariously funny. Unibrow has this thing about him, that no matter what happens, he is right. The pope could be telling him he’s wrong, but no, the pope is lying, etc.

He recently went to Dublin to do training on a new product we’re selling, so he’ll be the go-to guy on setup and installs of them. He spent 3 days there learning the thing inside and out, apparantly.

On Tuesday he had to set 3 up to be installed in a site of ours, and he spent most of the day doing it, with the bosses help on what the customer needs. Except, he couldn’t get one part of it working. The product is a weighing scale, and the part he couldn’t get working was a scanner attached to the scales, for a retail butcher shop.

He spent hours on the phone with the manufacturers here in Ireland trying to figure it out and was getting a bit frustrated with it. The boss told him to ring the manufacturer in the UK in case they had any input, but he kept putting it off until after 5 when it was too late then.

So I’m strolling around the place passing time, as one does, and pop in to see how he’s getting on. The boss is there stirring things asking about the scanner over and over, just to annoy unibrow, and unibrow is just getting stupid angry with him. I wander over to the scale and wink at the boss and start on about the scanner too. Unibrow just blows a big sigh and says “it’s a fault or something, we can’t get it to work and Pat in the manufacturers has no idea either.”

Open on top of one of the scales is the manual for them and the page is opened on how to set up the scanner. So I ask unibrow if he’s followed this exactly and get, “obviously I have, even Pat has, there’s something wrong with the scale or scanner.” I flick back to the start of the section on the scanner in the manual and go through the configuration myself. When it comes to the part of barcodes and how they should be set up, I notice the screenshots are different to how unibrow has them on the scale.

So I ask him, “this is done differently to what you have done, have you tried it this way?” And he says:

“That’s a misprint.”

Ok, sure, the manual could be wrong, but it’s mentioned more than once and includes more than 1 screenshot, surely someone would have noticed?

So I change his configuration to the way the manual has, exactly, ask unibrow to try it now, and what do you know – it worked!

Misprint, eh?

—

This morning the rabbit was going on about problems with his broadband at home, it works but is very slow. Unibrow turns around to him and says, “Oh that service isn’t available in your area.” The rabbit just stares at him and says, “I have the service, it’s just slow.”

“No, it’s not available you can’t have it. Your area isn’t covered,” replies unibrow. The rabbit doesn’t know how to respond so just simply says, “I have it.”

Unibrow still replies with, “You can’t. It isn’t available and that’s that.”

That’s that! haha, I really don’t know what goes on in his head.

I joined a gym last week, actually talked a couple other people into joining too. We’ll all be doing our own thing, but for the times when you want a bit of company, it’s handy.

Well, us all doing our own thing was the idea to begin with.

Then unibrow decided to join the gym too. The same one.

My instructor has scheduled my fitness assessment for today at noon, and unibrow has gone off and scheduled his for 30 mins before mine. Great.

I mean, seriously? Why? I get Monday morning, but why 30 mins before mine?! This means he’s going to be hanging around while I do mine, ’cause I know he won’t leave!!

God, that’s gonna suck.

Anyway, I wore my gym clothes into work before going down and have a bag with all my stuff in it. No idea what the fitness assessment will involve, but have everything with me just in case.

However, unibrow, who always smells, doesn’t. He has no change of clothes, or anything of the like, and slightly smells already today.

What a great start to the week!

Ugh. I’m fit to strangle unibrow!

So today is his birthday, and being the nice coworkers that we are, we got him a cake. A gorgeous chocolate and caramel cake with yummy chocolate icing and white chocolate sprinkled on top.

Everyone gathers around the bosses office discussing some or other, while I light the candles on the cake. He’s 31 and I’ve got 31 candles! Awesome bright blue/pink/yellow and purple ones. The cake looks awesome!

When read, I walk up to the bosses office and we all start singing Happy Birthday. Unibrow actually looks happy and surprised, and everytone is in good spirirts laughing and joking.

Until unibrow decides to take the BIGGEST breath humanly possible and proceeds to blow the fuck out of the candles. Which is fine, except I’m HOLDING the cake, and candle wax flies off the cake, and all over my top.

My top is destroyed with wax. An Iron might get most of it out, but the top is done for. Not impressed.

Not only that, but it’s spread out all across my boobs! So everyone is looking at my boobs and the mess made from the wax. Yippee.

Well, almost everyone. The boss is too busy making blowjob jokes.

Ugh.

Our business caters to many different areas of businesses including retail, bars, hotels, etc. Because of this, it’s not a 9-5/6 type job but we take turns being on call. Usually a Saturday would be the busiest time after normal business hours, but it’s been pretty quiet for a while now, months even.

Until yesterday. When yours truly was on call.

71 calls for the day. Starting at 7am and my phone didn’t stop ringing til near on 9:30 last night.

Now, I don’t mind being busy or getting this amount of calls. Beats being bored, and when we’re on call we know it’s coming so usually are at home or near a PC so we can dial in to a customer if needed.

What I *do* mind, very much so in fact, is refusal of my coworkers to help me when I need it. Or, a VERY pissed off attitude when I ask. That’s just not helpful.

Now, yes I know they’re off work and it’s my job to be on call, but come on! 71 calls!!!

I wasn’t even asking them to do the calls. I’d ring with a question, like I forgot where a certain setting was and all I get when I call someone else is “why are you calling me?”

One customer initially rang one of the guys direct and got a very pissed off answer. To the point where the customer said “don’t you dare be narky with me” and then hung up. The customer told me thus himself.

The same coworker would tell me things like, “that’s nothing to do with our software” and 2 mins later ring ne back bitching about me not checking the thing he had told me didn’t exist!

Another coworker got one call from me then turned off his phone.

Yeah, again, perfectly entitled to do so and when I found out it was more of a “fuckers phone is off” and moved on. But I coulda done with his help and he always gets mine when he’s on call.

In fact they all do. At anytime. In fact, I usually just say I’ll do the call. Cause it’s nice to help out when you can!!

Apparantly, I’m the only one who thinks this in our company. Yay.

So, Monday a shit storm is gonna reign down cause seriously, I’ll be pulling my own help and support to them unless there’s a serious attitude change. That’s not arrogance, I’ve worked here near on 12 years and am second to the boss , and know the most about the software.

If they aren’t helping me on a very odd, unusual and once in a blue
moon occasion, why should I help them at other times?

Seriously ticked off.
