OK, before I rant away here, and this is a rant, let me explain something called “multisite”.
Multisite is the ability/software to connect multiple locations to 1. So you may have a head office and 4 other offices elsewhere in the area/country/world/universe/etc.
One of our distributors recently got a big contract that’s going to be all multisite. 1 head office and17 individual offices. This guy doesn’t know anything about multisite (he needs to learn , and fast) so he’s working with us in the setup and workings of that.
Now, multisite is my baby. I love it, everything about it from setup to final workings. I could talk about it for days on end to anyone who would listen.
So I emailed this distributor last week requesting information, like how many offices in total and what information needs to send between each or seperately. i.e. does account/invoicing information send to all, or only certain ones. Product updates and the like, do they send to all or only certian ones. And what do the offices send back to the head office. That kinda thing. I made it very easy to read and understand, well, I think I did anyway.
I need this information in order to setup the multiste on each of the machines. He’s sending them to us for setup.
So this morning he calls while, funnily enough, I’m working on another multiste customer who’s connection is not working and trying to figure out what’s wrong. That’s being dialled into 4 sites and watching them all closely at the same time. Thank god for 2 monitors. So anyway, he calls and starts to tell me the answers, but I ask him to email them to me as I couldn’t concentrate at the mo’. He tells me to just write it down. I ask him again to email it as I’m under pressure to get this problem fixed and I’ll forget everything he said. He again tells me to write it down. Now, he won’t budge for me and just email me the info, but expects me to drop what I’m doing to listen to him. I just did not have the concentration and time right then to do that. He kept insisting and then finally he said he would call me back when the machines came in and explain it to me then. Great! So I said “that’s perfect, cheers, good luck” and hung up.
So the boss arrives in an hour later and calls me into his office, like wtf? Tells me the guy called him and bitched about me hanging up on him! I did no such thing! I never hang up on people, I find it one of the rudest things anyone can do. I filled the boss in, he said ok and to just call the guy later to calm him down.
So home for lunch I went, and figured no better time. Called the guy and said that I was sorry if he got the impression I hung up on him, I don’t do that.
Here is where the heading of “tool” comes in. He refused to accept my apology, called me a liar on more than 1 occasion and threatened me if it ever happened again. Now seriously, I even pointed out how he was not giving anything here, I apologised for the impression he got and stated that I did not, and would not, hang up on anyone or I would have hung up on this conversation a long time ago. He accepted my apology, I said thank you, and then he continued on bitching again. He just couldn’t take my apology for what it was worth, and I was serious. I hate anything thinking I hang up on people, considering how rude I consider it myself.
So, then HE hung up on me, for real 
I mean, that’s just perfect. After all his talk. So, do I be the big one here and drop it, or do I complain him for hanging up on me?
Complain him of course! yay!
So I got back to the office and filled the boss in, and he said he’d handle it.
And I’m meant to work with this guy? Can’t wait….
